- People are responsible for their own actions (especially treatment of others).
- A ruler should govern his subjects by his own example
- A ruler should treat his subjects with love and concern.
- Moral education was appropriate to Confucius.
- Any moral, wise, courageous man could be a leader (you didn't have to be born into the royal family).
- One of Confucius' main goals: To create gentlemen who carry themselves with grace, speak correctly, and demonstrate integrity in all things
